the past weeks i had the chance to see two female singers. first is vanessa carlton, live at ayala town center in alabang. ‘quite close from home, and considering it’s free, i grabbed the chance. she doesn’t have a new album really (latest is heroes and thieves from october last year), and she sang couple songs from all previous albums. the crowd of course were more familiar with some of her hits from her debut album..songs like a thousand miles, ordinary day, and pretty baby.

it was literally a concert for free because she performed for a total of a bit more than an hour, excellent piano skills of course!. it started right on time, and even though i didn’t get a free seat (just standing along the railings), i still enjoyed the show and took a couple of pics.

next show, and more recent, is local pop alternative rock singer kitchie nadal. the most common fault that people find with her songs is that they’re so overplayed. well, personally, i find no fault in that. true that some might regard such cliche music as cheap or probably banal, and the tunes being so catchy. however, her songs are respectable in its own genre and is simply being embraced by the community at large. it was my first time to see her perform live, and she’s really amazing (and cute. haha). her vocals equals just like what’s in her cd’s and she’s so modest and completely unhaughty to her viewers that she even went around and reach out  to those who weren’t able to get inside the railing. as for my case, i was able to get in, and sat at the very front middle position! haha. there’s no entrance fee, but you have to show a receipt from any shop in pavilion mall amounting to 500 pesos. before the show, me and my mom grab a quick bite at chowking (but still not enough to reach 500), and since i don’t intend to buy anything, we just pick a receipt from a table nearby. still insufficient, we walked around and saw another receipt and then went to the venue and tried to haggle with the show crew, to which she allowed us to get in (still lacking about 30 pesos). we were the first to get in, imagine, the show won’t start in another one and a half hour!! kitchie’s no prima donna as well, she went out on the stage about an hour before the proper show and practice on some of her guitar riffs right in wide view of shoppers and bystanders. as compared to other artists’ show, i think the venue was not so much busy. probably a bit because the last time she promoted an album was back in 2004, and being away for around 4 years is a long time.

initially, she sang songs from her new album, and then the crowd became more fervent when she sang old popular hits like same ground, huwag na huwag mong sasabihin, and bulong. the show ended with album signing and i even bothered to bring ‘drama queen tv’ EP so she could sign it as well. and of course, some pictures with her. haha

Romans 12

  1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.   3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his[b]faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
Love
  9Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

  14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

  17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20On the contrary:
   “If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
     If he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
     In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

  21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

this weekend was so occupied with:

gone around alabang last saturday, stops: honda alabang to get a quotation for insurance coverage (the car needs some works to do). passed by festival mall and almost..almost bought a diesel shoes. good thing i was with my mom and sister, and their powers combined were too strong that i realize i don’t need a new shoes afterall. i’m still in saving mode right now. frugality. i have to remind myself over and over again.

evening of saturday = pyrolympics at MOA with lomo friends. ‘went there with glai. late!!! they have 2 shows every saturday, one at 7pm and other at 9pm. we missed the first one of course, and we were still literally looking for a parking space when the second one started! imagine me, armed with a tall tripod and a big camera around my neck, running and searching for a better view of the fireworks, my shirt soaked with sweat, but still, i had futile attempts to capture the show. my gulay, please, even for just one single shot. please come out looking decent. needless to say, most of what i got were human heads and silhouettes of fellow watchers ahead us….and as i’m folding my tripod, a bystander passed by us, commenting, "nice shots?". whatta!!!! haha i’m totally humiliated!

then we met the rest of the lomo gang behind hooters (yes, we have hooters philippine already, it’s right beside MOA, at the very end of san miguel lines of restaurant). there’s a mitsubishi lancer car exhibit going on nearby, and we take a peek inside it. they’re featuring the new lancer ex. all i have for it is one word. wow. i really really like a mitsu lancer, but it’s a bit pricey as compared to honda’s cheapest car, city, we settled for the latter.

some shots by glai at the exhibit, as i’m still under the spell of shame as to what happened to my pyro shots.

going back next saturday! that would be my last chance!!

the "best" shot i have. whatta!!?!? madness.

sunday. today. just at home, doing official business stuff, ran a couple on the tread earlier, and getting ready for the C++ training tomorrow!

arguably the country in asia most heavily-influenced by the west. where people watch and more than eager to know who won the american idol (us) premiere.

====================================================

on another note, allow me to tell you what has been happening lately…well, i’ve been going home late the past few days. in fact, i just finished my dinner (at home), and i think i could do a quick post before crashing to bed. the good thing though (is it?)  is that i’m not getting hampered because of work. last wednesday was ice skating night. the last time i tried this was in hong kong couple of years ago, (where i met several good friends =D ) so the other day, we went there after office, and even there’s a bit of thunderstorm and some of the crew can’t make it, we still decided to go on. i only have jug (holga) with me so no digital-instant-photo that i could link in right now…and speaking of that, i dropped by digiprint glorietta01 (they moved from ayala mrt station) after office today to have some 5 rolls developed, and yes, that includes an experimental roll of redscale on 120..so crossing my fingers what will happen….and so ‘will probably be posting lomo pics soon. afterwards, we headed to greenbelt and had 3 rounds of dota tourney.

and to talk about dinner, yes, i have one overly satisfied stomach at the moment in line of my goal to at least reach 130 lbs. i’m around 126 lbs at the moment (sigh). the heaviest i’ve been entire is at 146 or 147 lbs, so i think i could still earn on some pounds. probably the biggest factor i’m losing weight is the everyday commute to work. :( dinner? some fried torta, a ton of rice, 2 rounds of soggy noodle soup, and since we ran out of iced tea (powdered), i made myself a tall BUCKET of fresh calamansi juice.

ZZZzzzZzzZZzzzz…zzZZZzzZZ

good night. er, ohayo gozaimasu!

however, before eating, i did a quick run on the tread.
