my passport with US visa arrived today at the office. i was totally expecting for a 3-to-6-month visitor visa, but to my surprise, affixed on it is a 10-year multiple visa!!! isn’t that a very pleasant post birthday present?!
i probably have one of the world’s most sensitive head, brain, skull, cranium, cerebrum, what-ever-you-call-it. i consider it lucky if a week goes by without any tinge of pain in my head. migraine. i’m no certain if this is genetically acquired, but my mom has it. when i was younger, a single dose of biogesic would be the answer. eventually, i had to take on two tablets. when it came to the point that biogesic seems nothing but a sugar lump, i switched to advil. back then, i was completely astounded by how swiftly my headache’s gone! (in less than 5 minutes after taking advil!) now, advil has no effect at all..but i didn’t dare to take twice of it in a row…might end up relieving my headache perpetually
at present, i’ve been taking this drug called, norgesic. ‘found this out from my mom. it’s a bit helpful compared with other medicines i tried.
the feeling is just so maddening. a lot of times i could even feel my head throbbing, pulsating rhythmically with the pain like they’re in a repertoire performance. no exaggeration. it also skids from one side to the other. sometimes the pain is on the left side, sometimes it’s on the right. there are even times when it’s in the middle, front, or back, but the worst of all is that when it’s too painful for me to identify where the pain is!!
tonight, it’s on the front right side part. it subsided a bit already after putting cold compress, and taking a cold shower earlier. i haven’t had dinner yet, i just don’t feel like eating..and would probably rest and sleep in awhile.. hay…
long weekend’s over and mostly stayed at home apart from: gone to the mall last saturday (was my birthday) with my mom and check out some refrigerators at the appliance section. we picked one, (a-year to pay, no interest) and will be delivered this thursday. my mom has always been complaining about how tiny our ref is. well, it’s really tragically small that the water pitcher we have (that fits the ref) is so small the contents is good for only one person. then, went home and back again to the mall in the afternoon and had dinner with some friends (from highschool), 1.50 rounds of dota afterwards that we hardly finished the second game as the shop’s closing, and bought some drinks (which ends up disastrously bad, matador + chocolait + milk = BAD. we tried this mix before but i guess we used rhum? or emperador? instead. we missed coffee as well and we used milo instead of chocolait. if you imagine, this is a cheap version of baileys). then head home for a very unchildish game. MONOPOLY!! + bad drink = GOOD combination! well, our group is really used to gameboards. haha we even played scrabble before, and the other occasion we played jenga.
sunday, lazy day. catch up on my reading (artemis fowl) and late grocery with my mom.
monday. ’stayed at home. ‘cleaned the car early in the morning, and then some 5K in the afternoon. ‘recooked leftover pasta sauce from last week.

the world’s fastest indian. i saw this film last sunday, and thought i could do a short review. it’s about a man obsessed with speed, burt munro, and his attempts to set land speed records. he lives on his own, in a peaceful town in invercargill (southern new zealand). mostly in his shed occupied tinkering his indian motorcycle, he dreams of going to united states one day and establishing new record speed with his indian.
despite of some negative feedback, hesitations, and doubts from his neighbors, he managed to travel to america where he met several people along his way to Bonneville Salt Flats, the race/exhibition venue. at first, he was denied of participating because he is not registered, too old, and more importantly, his motorcycle failed to pass mechanical safety regulations. however, burt is not a man easy to be convinced and give in. he attempted to run the track illegally even without the permit and because he’s very pertistent, the organizers eventually decided to give him a chance. he did a run test with his indian with some of the crew tailing behind. after demonstrating his capability (and the indian), they allowed him to run.
his speed records (1960’s) were more than 200 miles per hour (which still stands to date) and these were with motorcycles that are sub-1000 cc! he then returned to new zealand, successful in his desire to set the record and proclaimed the world’s fastest indian.
for comparison, the fastest drive i had on a modern car is 155 kilometers per hour, or 96 miles per hour (not even half as fast as his indian) and this is the year 2008.
wuhoo!!! ‘tried karting last thursday with several colleagues after office. we have this group/friends (or maybe we could make it a club? haha) at the office that regularly do sport activities or just anything new to experience. it’s nice to have officemates that are interested and keen on joining events of similar interests. it was my first time to kart and i’ve been wanting to try this for so long. since it’s a bit expensive, our group tried cheaper adventures first like wall climbing, ice skating, going to the beach, and badminton.
karting is a bit scary at first. unlike driving a car, you drive a small skeletonized frame kart (we tried funkart), bare of any protection that a modern car provides (airbags, side impact beam, abs, and the likes). i did not avail any racing suit, so i only have my normal clothes with me. the only protection that i have is a balaclava (protection more of against germs rather than physical injury hehe), and a helmet with a broken lock (that i had to manually tie to secure). the kart’s engine is on my right side, and i was warned not to get too close to it because it could get blazing hot. it’s literally like sitting on a moving plank with 4 wheels, a steering wheel, gas pad, and a semi-comfortable seat. it has no power steering as well, but there is no gear. just gas and brake…which to my opinion, the brake is too weak to even consider it of any use. initially, i was trying to get a grasp of the machine’s technicalities, and the track course; checking on the brakes, acceleration, and how to handle the sharp curves of the track. about mid way the track during my first lap, i had a minor collision with carmi and both of us were stuck in one corner unable to release our karts because there is no reverse. then all of a sudden, i saw this full force speed kart aiming right towards us! our boss (sir bing) hit me right on target! that particular moment was a bit scary, i’m just sitting on my obviously flimsy kart waiting for the impact because i can’t move! the jolt caused a slight bang on my knee (and i have the bruise now). nevertheless, i continued the race and after a while, i get used to it.. it’s a bit easy getting the hang of it, and then it’s all fun!!! we were overtaking each other, going sideways, and slight clashing. pretty amazing experience!
when you are having fun, you wouldn’t notice time is so fast! we were then signalled to proceed to the station as our 12-minute is up. i didn’t really count how many laps i did, but i guess it’s about 9 or 10 laps. they don’t monitor time so it’s more of fun karting rather than time challenge. since it’s at night, it’s hard taking decent pictures.
i’ve yet to invest on a speedlite.
unfortunately, several among us have slight injuries after the event. sorry!!
all of us were starving, so we head to macapagal for some seafood dinner. as none of us had the energy to pick our own fresh seafood in nearby market area, we settled for orders in an indoor restaurant (’was really hot outside). food was not bad, (although abit pricey) and bad timing, i began to have migraine, probably due to the exhilarating-high-level-action karting experience!!

the last time i was at home for my birthday was during my 22nd. turning 25 just today, and waking up in my own room at the comfort of my own lofty bed in my birthtown where i lived most of my life is simple yet welcoming. i had a severe migraine yesterday (probably due to loads of jolts and crashes i had in karting last thursday night), so i slept early last night (before 9 pm). i woke up today around 7ish am to be greeted by 11 sms (and still counting until the end of the day) all saying birthday greetings. some greetings were even precisely at 12 midnight, thanks for the extra effort friends. it includes an sms from my mom even though she’s just in another room.
‘received morning calls from my dad and sister, birthday greetings of course.
i’m happy to be at home this time. not that i’ll celebrate my birthday extravagantly today, in fact, i don’t really celebrate much my birthday at all. often times, it’s just an ordinary day with family and friends and eat out or at home when my mom cooked something. as for today, we’ll probably just go out and dine. it’s just me and my mom at home anyway.
i’m as old as my tongue and a little bit older than my teeth. at 25, i’m blessed and grateful for what i have and accomplished. it’s not rocket science that i’ve lived probably close to half of my life on earth. (no, this is not mid-life crisis, ok? haha) i just want to say that i’m completely happy with what’s going on so far, and making most of every opportunity to discover new things that comes my way. time is not unlimited. it is too short just when you need more of it.
