Day 360

Monday, December 27th, 2010

IDK.

This holiday season is my second in Singapore and the third in a row away from home. It was also December when I left the Philippines for New Zealand 2 years ago and for the first time in my life, I spent Christmas on my own, without my family, and away from home. I’m not really the home-buddy type (okay, I used to be) but I realize I’ve been pretty much away these years. There are 60 months in the past 5 years and I spent 47 of these, or 78.33% elsewhere. I’m promising myself (sorry but not you, my dear reader) that I’ll be spending Christmas 2011 at home.

This morning, I needed a couple of extra effort to drag my heavy body from the bed to the shower. For the time being, going to work every morning has been the least joyful of experience, but let’s leave it at that. I’m still happy that I have work and in fact, I’m getting another month’s worth of earnings by the weekend. Anyway, that’s precisely the reason why everyone works.

But luckily, holiday for me is not yet over. After three and a half working days, it’ll have a comeback because I’ll be heading (with some friends) to Langkawi, in Malaysia, where we will spend the coming of 2011. Thurday night, we leave by bus from Johor Bahru making our way up Northern Malaysia via a 10-hour bus ride and take a ferry from Kuala Perlis. It’s a total of 4 days vacation, and I won’t return to work until January 4th.

As for 2011, I made mental list (not anymore, it’s written apparently) of things I need to change and do. The item that tops my list is patience. I have to have more of it. Conclusion worked out by the fact that I’ll be surrounded by Singaporeans for 9 or 10 more months. Enough said. Second, I’ll be more consistent in training and getting fit overall, especially that I’m aspiring to finish a full marathon by May or later if I’m not yet ready, but I have to do it in 2011. Third, the money. I have to organize it better (if I have something to organize) and spend only on things necessary (I can’t believe I’m saying this, where is that Android phone yet??) Fourth, I need to be better in photography, editing, and the works. Five, I’ll gradually shift from coffee to tea.

And finally, I need to prove that I’m a great gift to mankind.
