okay, this is a late post.
holiday breaks are rare, and precious because i only have the right to 7 days of paid leaves a year. last weekend was a 3.5-day vacation, and the coming weekend too, so it was very nice to finally have time to relax, although i never get to be back at home in the philippines. i still have to come to office last 24th, but just for a few hours in the morning, then followed by a free lunch gathering serving local taste of coconut rice, fried chicken, barbeque, roasted peanuts, and chili sauce (nasi lemak?). christmas eve was a sumptous feast of filipino food (with the hausmates), pansit malabon, and barbeque (marinated pork chops, stuffed tilapia), and chicken alfredo, an experiment by one of my housemates. at first, we felt confident doing the grill in our laundry area, but then we realize the smoke was just too much, and trying to avoid an uninvited police for dinner, we continued bbqing downstairs, carrying the smoking foil pit with hot glowing coal inside the elevator, which doesn’t have a smoke detector obviously, but a camera. i made sure i wasn’t facing the cam. by the look of several people walking-by, it’s still not allowed to cook downstairs our block, but we couldn’t care more, it’s christmas anyway, so after the pork, then the fish. the coal was very efficient.
i felt tired when we were back upstairs, and then we started the simple dinner. so simple that none of us bought any alcohol, which is no problem by me as i was trying to cut down.
the next day, christmas day, i rest for the whole day.

Merry Christmas!!
