the bookworm

it's just half-month past 2007 but i've finished three books already! :-) this is a record!

the first one i did was 'by the river piedra' by p. coelho. it's just an short read actually, but i just didn't like the way the writer conveys the story. does it really need to be that religiously detailed that it even includes pilar's litany?

next was 'extremely loud and incredibly close' by j.s foer. i bought this during my vacation and suppose to read in hong kong (as books here are expensive). but can't helped myself and i finished it a few days before going back to hong kong, so i just left it at home. this is a nice read. actually reminds me of 'the curious incident of the dog in the night-time' by m. haddon. it's really witty, and i just liked the very natural approach of the story.

and the last one, which i just finished last night, is 'harry potter and the half-blood prince'! i know i'm too behind on this. but is dumbledore dead for good? i really believe there is something beyond what harry knew that dumbledore trusts snape so much. it's a good read, but i just don't like the layout of the story. very early on the chapter showed that harry suspected malfoy's and snape's conspiracy. he mentioned this to dumbledore, who did nothing but carry on looking for horcrux, which he actually got. just a fake one. it seems very stupid that he sacrificed that lot and ended up real nothing. overall, i find it rather very plain that what harry suspected at the beginning is exactly what happened (save for not hinting early who's the half-blood prince). still, the best among the books for me is the third, 'the prisoner of azkaban'. :-)

in line is 'catch-22' by j. heller. but i really have to save this 'cause i still have three and a half months and this is the last one left. :-(
